The Stewardship Council seeks to cultivate stewardship
as a way of life. We believe that God has bestowed gifts
of time, talent, and treasure to everyone
which are to be used in the service of others
and to promote the common good. We hope to increase
awareness of stewardship and full participation of all
parishioners in the mission of our parish and the universal church.

Stewardship is:

  • Receiving God’s Gifts Gratefully…and recognizing that everything is a gift from God
  • Cultivating These Gifts Responsibly…cherishing and tending them in a responsible and accountable manner
  • Sharing Our Gifts with Others…lovingly and in justice
  • Returning Our Gifts with Increase to the Lord…gratefully and recognizing that all goodness is a gift from God. What we “do” with the gift is our "gift to God."

So, to break it down in a nutshell, a steward is someone who manages someone else’s house (that is, all of the owner’s possessions) and ultimately God is the owner of everything that exists. The fundamental meaning of stewardship is everything we own was given to us by God (our family members and friends, our homes, and even the air we breathe) and we are all His caretakers. We hope to cultivate this ethic in our parish.

Our Holy Father, Pope John Paull II said:
"We cannot stand idly by, enjoying our won riches and freedom if,
in any place the Larzarus of [our time] stands at our doors."
